Who we are
We are Debbie and William. Friends, colleagues, fellow artisans and business partners who first met as teenagers, then again as fellow crafters in middle age!
We share a passion for showcasing the highest quality local producers, and in 2013 formed The North Down Craft Collective, a group of crafters who each produce unique, handmade products.
We are makers ourselves…so we get it! Debbie is a textile designer and the business owner behind Wee Yarn Designs, William is a food producer making chutneys and preserves for his business, The Local.
A natural progression from this was to secure premises from which to continue to promote local talent, on a more substantial and sustainable basis – and so the concept of The Craft Room was born. The name maintains links with the ethos of The North Down Craft Collective, while progressing in an exciting new direction.
What We Do
The Craft Room draws on knowledge gained through the success of The North Down Craft Collective.
First and foremost, we want to maintain the supportive, happy, welcoming atmosphere achieved at the markets, and carry that mood on in The Craft Room. We also want to continue to offer ONLY genuinely hand made products, to support the talented individuals who work so hard to create their goods and to offer customers a unique experience.
As well as the retail aspect of The Craft Room, a full program of workshops takes place each month and makers are encouraged to use the space and get involved.
We also hold regular Meet the Maker events and Open evenings.
